This wonderful Vintage necklace depicts a fabulous serpent with the snake’s head and tail connecting at the bottom. Intricate engraved patterns are etched into the head with two 0.04ct Rubies set as the eyes.
Serpent jewellery was popular in Victorian times and represented love, loyalty and friendship. The depiction of a snake swallowing its tail was a symbol of eternal love.
The necklaces elasticated design expands to fit comfortably around the neck and is very smooth on the skin. It is fashioned in 9ct Yellow Rolled Gold and fitted with a secure box clasp with added safety catch. It is complete with the makers initials of Smith & Pepper and fully hallmarked and dated Birmingham 1976.
